MTN OPS Review – Fuelling Products for the Opposite Problem

MTN OPS makes performance supplements, energy and recovery fuels and on-the-go meals, built for hunters, athletes and anyone doing sustained hard physical work. It is a coherent brand serving a real audience. That audience is not people in a medically induced calorie deficit, and the mismatch matters more than any individual product.

What It Is

An outdoor performance nutrition brand with supplements, energy and recovery products, on-the-go meals and a women’s line, sold direct and through outdoor retailers. The positioning is around endurance and physical output in demanding conditions.

The Population Mismatch

Performance nutrition exists to get calories and energy into people burning a great deal of both. GLP-1 treatment exists to reduce intake. Products designed for the first situation are often actively unhelpful in the second.

This is not a criticism of the brand — it is a scoping point that saves money. A hunter on a mountain for twelve hours needs dense, fast calories. Someone whose appetite has been suppressed needs the reverse: maximum nutrition, particularly protein, in the smallest volume, with as few spare calories as possible. Our protein and satiety guide covers what that actually looks like.

If you are reading this while losing weight on medication, most of this catalogue is solving a problem you do not have.

The Energy Products Are the Wrong Direction

Performance energy products are typically stimulant-based, and stimulants are a poor fit alongside a GLP-1 for three specific reasons we have set out elsewhere on this site.

  • Hydration. Caffeine has a mild diuretic effect, and dehydration-driven acute kidney injury is the most common serious adverse event with these medications. See our note on electrolyte replacement.
  • Nausea. Stimulants on a stomach that is emptying slowly reliably make nausea worse — the main reason people abandon GLP-1 treatment.
  • Heart rate. GLP-1s can modestly raise resting heart rate on their own; adding a large stimulant dose is worth clearing with your prescriber.

Feeling low on energy in a large calorie deficit is normal and expected. The answer is eating enough protein and pacing your training, not chemically overriding the signal. Our side effects guide covers the rest.

The Protein Side Is Worth a Look

One part of the range may genuinely help. Protein products and on-the-go meals aimed at athletes are often protein-dense and require no preparation — which is exactly what someone with no appetite needs, since roughly a quarter to a third of GLP-1 weight loss can be lean mass without adequate protein.

The caveat is calories. Performance meals are deliberately energy-dense, so check the label rather than the branding: you want high protein per calorie, not maximum calories per pack. If the numbers work, it is a reasonable purchase; if they do not, hemp hearts or a plain whey powder deliver protein without the fuelling payload.

Who Should Use It, and Who Should Not

MTN OPS suits you if you hunt, hike or train hard for long periods and need to fuel that. It is a sensible brand for its intended audience.

Skip most of it if you are losing weight on a GLP-1 — and avoid the stimulant energy products specifically. If protein without a fuelling payload is what you want, buy a plain protein source; if you want to protect muscle, that is resistance training plus protein rather than a performance supplement.

Limitations of This Review

This is a brand-level review based on limited available coverage checked on 7 August 2026 — mostly company descriptions rather than independent testing or consumer analysis. We could not establish pricing, ingredient amounts, caffeine content, third-party testing or certifications, which is a substantial gap. Our comments on stimulants describe caffeine generally rather than any specific MTN OPS formulation. We have not used any product.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is MTN OPS suitable if I am on a GLP-1?

Mostly not. It is built around fuelling hard physical work, which is the opposite of a deliberate calorie deficit. The stimulant-based energy products in particular work against the hydration you need, since dehydration-driven kidney injury is the main serious risk with these medications.

Is anything in the range useful?

Protein products and on-the-go meals can be, if the protein content is high and the calories fit your intake. Check the label rather than the branding — performance products often carry deliberately high calories.

Are the products tested?

We could not establish third-party testing, ingredient amounts or certifications from available sources — a meaningful gap for a performance brand, where contamination matters most to anyone subject to drug testing.

What should I buy instead?

For protein, a complete source such as whey or hemp hearts. For training, a programme and equipment. For hydration on a GLP-1, a sugar-free electrolyte product rather than a stimulant.

Verdict

2.8 / 5

A capable performance brand aimed at fuelling hard physical work — which is the opposite of what anyone on a GLP-1 is trying to do.

We are rating fit rather than quality. For hunters and endurance athletes this is a coherent product line and we have no reason to think it is poorly made. Judged against the needs of someone losing weight on appetite-suppressing medication, most of it points the wrong way.

The stimulant energy products are the part to actively avoid, since they work against the hydration that prevents the main serious complication of these drugs. If a protein product in the range has good numbers per calorie, that is the exception worth checking.

Check Protein Per Calorie, Skip the Stimulants

Performance products are built to add energy. On a GLP-1 you want protein density instead — and caffeine works against the hydration you need.
