SKIMS sells underwear, shapewear and loungewear in sizes XXS to 4X, which is a wider span than most of the category and the main reason it is worth considering while your measurements are moving. The company checks out: A+ at the Better Business Bureau, accredited since 2019. The detail that will actually cost or save you money is buried in the returns page: there is a $6 return fee unless you take store credit — and it vanishes entirely if you spend two minutes joining the free rewards tier before you order.

What It Is and Who It Is For

A direct-to-consumer intimates and loungewear brand, sold online, through its own stores, and through outlets. The range now spans underwear and bras, shapewear, loungewear and matching sets, clothing including dresses and activewear, swim, maternity, a menswear line, and a NikeSKIMS activewear collaboration. For readers of this site there are two distinct purchases here and they deserve different answers. Underwear and bras are consumables you will replace as your size changes, and the bundle pricing makes that manageable. Shapewear at $68 to $98 a piece is a different proposition: a compression garment bought to fit a body that is, by definition, not going to stay the same. The rest of this review is mostly about how to make that distinction pay.

XXS to 4X Is the Actual Reason to Shop Here

Their published size guide states XXS to 4X for underwear, and separately for clothing, loungewear and swim. The conversion table puts XXS at about a US 00 and 4X at about a US 26 to 28. Bra charts extend to a 40 to 46 inch underband on the main range and 38 to 44 inches on the NikeSKIMS range.

A practical caveat. Different SKIMS collections use different fabrics with very different stretch, and a size in the Fits Everybody range is not doing the same job as the same size in a sculpting fabric. Use the size guide per collection rather than assuming your size carries across, and for bras use the calculator rather than the number you have used for a decade — band and cup both change as you lose weight, and they do not change at the same rate.

The Return Policy, and the Clause Worth Reading Twice

The mechanics are good. Thirty days from placing your order for a refund to your original payment method or store credit, with proof of purchase. Returns by post, at a Happy Returns Return Bar with an emailed QR code and no box or label, or in a SKIMS store. That box-free option is genuinely the easiest returns process in this category.

Join the Free Tier Before You Buy Anything

This is the highest-value paragraph in the review. SKIMS Rewards is free, has two tiers, and free returns start at the entry tier.

The only friction is that it requires the app rather than a website signup, which is obviously the point of the programme from the company’s side. Weigh that how you like — but if you expect to return anything, and in this category you should expect to, the app pays for itself on the first return.

Onyx is easier to reach than it looks. Four separate purchases in a year, not four hundred dollars each — someone replacing underwear as they drop sizes will pass that without trying, and then shipping is free with no threshold at all.

What It Costs

The bundles are where the value is. While we were looking the site was running 3 for $22 and 3 for $26 on socks, 3 for $39 and 5 for $35 on underwear, 2 for $40 on bralettes, and a 5 for $70 offer. At 5 for $35 an underwear pair works out at $7 against roughly $14 to $20 as a single — a genuine halving, and exactly the right way to buy something you will replace in six months.

Which suggests the sensible split. Bundle the basics, single-buy the shapewear, and only when you have an actual occasion for it. A $98 bodysuit that fits today is not an investment if you are two sizes from where you are heading.

Shipping, and the Processing Time Nobody Adds Up

Add the processing time. Their own page says to expect 3 to 4 business days of processing for orders placed with standard shipping. So a standard order is realistically six to nine business days from click to doorstep, not three to five. If you are buying for a specific date, count backwards from that and not from the transit estimate.

Free shipping kicks in at $75 domestically, and free Express at $100. P.O. Box and APO/FPO addresses must use Economy, and they do not ship to freight forwarding addresses. Their tracking guidance is sensible: contact customer service if tracking shows no movement for more than five business days, and note that some carriers scan a parcel as delivered while it is still out and may physically deliver it within the following four business days.

What the Evidence Says About Wearing Compression

Shapewear attracts a lot of health commentary in both directions, so we went and looked at the literature. The first finding is about the literature itself.

So anyone telling you confidently that shapewear is dangerous, or confidently that it is perfectly fine, is going beyond what has actually been studied. The nearest relevant evidence comes from adjacent questions, and it points in two directions:

The reasonable reading: abdominal compression is mildly associated with reflux symptoms in survey data, the mechanism is plausible, and the one serious long-term outcome anyone tested was not found. Treat shapewear as something that can make you uncomfortable rather than something that will make you ill — and if it hurts, restricts your breathing, or makes you numb or tingly, take it off. That is not a research finding, it is common sense that the research has not contradicted.

That last line is a small piece of history preserved in a public record. The brand launched under the Kimono name in 2019, was widely criticised for taking the name of a Japanese garment, and renamed to SKIMS before it shipped. The original entity name is still on the BBB file. It is not a mark against the company today — if anything, changing the name in response to the criticism was the right call — but it is the kind of detail a reader can verify for themselves rather than take on trust.

An A+ with accreditation puts SKIMS at the better end of the retailers we review. For context, we have looked at large, entirely solvent chains carrying an F on the same scale, purely because they do not engage with the complaints channel. SKIMS does.

What Customers Complain About

The reviews visible on that BBB profile cluster around three things, and they are worth knowing because they are not the things the marketing prepares you for:

• Product disappointment relative to expectation. One reviewer bought an item hoping it would be amazing and found it was not. That is a hazard of a brand with this much marketing behind it, and the answer is to buy one thing first rather than a wardrobe

None of that is unusual for a fast-growing DTC brand with frequent limited drops, and none of it is the kind of complaint that suggests you will struggle to get your money back. The returns route here is easier than most.

How It Compares

We have deliberately not quoted competitor prices we did not check today. The distinguishing feature here is the size range and the returns mechanics, not being the cheapest.

Who Should Buy Here, and Who Should Not

Good fit:

• You are moving through sizes and want one brand that will still stock you at the other end of the journey
• You will join the free rewards tier and take advantage of free returns
• You are replacing everyday underwear and will buy it in bundles
• You have a Happy Returns Bar or a SKIMS store nearby, which makes returning almost frictionless
• You want one shaping piece for a specific dated occasion

Look elsewhere if:

• You will not install the app, in which case every return costs $6 or forces store credit
• You want to buy a shapewear wardrobe now. At $68 to $98 a piece, that is an expensive bet on your measurements holding
• You need it for a date inside a week and will not pay for Express or Priority
• You want a professional in-person bra fitting, which a calculator does not replace
• You are shopping mainly on price for basics. The bundles are good; the singles are not the cheapest available
• Compression genuinely bothers your stomach. Believe your own symptoms over the marketing

Everything here was checked on 8 August 2026 against skims.com — the returns, shipping, rewards and size guide pages and the live shapewear collection — together with the Better Business Bureau profile and the PubMed literature. Prices, promotions and policies change constantly in this category; the bundle offers in particular are time-limited and will not be the ones running when you read this.

We did not buy, wear or return anything, so we cannot speak to fabric quality, how a given size actually fits, durability after washing, or how the discretionary returns clause is applied in practice. Prices are those displayed on the collection pages on the day and individual items outside those ranges certainly exist. We could not read a complete price list for every category, and we did not verify a Trustpilot score because Trustpilot blocked automated access.

And if compression makes your stomach worse — particularly on a medication that already slows it down — take the garment off and mention it to your doctor. The clothing is cheaper to change than anything else in that sentence.
