We have assessed a lot of guarantees across this series, and the differences between them are almost entirely about friction rather than length.

You can choose your spectrum and your strength independently, which no other brand in this series lets you do to this extent. Reviewing one well-regarded competitor we had to record that it offered no THC-free option anywhere in its catalogue, which rules it out entirely for anyone subject to drug testing regardless of how good its products are.

Here the question “can I get this THC-free?” is simply answered yes, at whatever strength you want. For a buyer whose job involves testing, that is not a feature — it is the whole decision.

The 5000mg is worth a separate note: at a reported 167mg of CBD per 1ml serving against 83mg for the 2500mg, it is genuinely concentrated. If you take a substantial daily amount, that means less oil to swallow and a bottle that lasts, rather than working through droppers of something weak.

Pricing: Mid-Range, Not Cheapest

CBDistillery has a reputation as a value brand, and we want to place it accurately rather than repeat that.

At around 5 cents per milligram — $240 for the 5000mg, or $130 for the 2500mg reduced from $155 — CBDistillery sits squarely mid-field. Cheaper than several well-known brands, dearer than several others, and not the bargain option its reputation suggests.

That is a perfectly reasonable place to be, given what comes with it — annual external audits and a guarantee that asks nothing back both cost money. But if cost per milligram is your only criterion, you can do better elsewhere, and we would rather say so.

US Hemp Authority, and What It Requires

CBDistillery holds US Hemp Authority certification, which sets standards for sourcing, manufacturing and labelling.

Recurring external audit is a materially higher bar than one-off certification. Plenty of quality marks in this category are earned once and displayed indefinitely; a certification that lapses without re-inspection means something is being checked on an ongoing basis rather than at a single favourable moment.

It is also genuinely scarce. Reviewing another certified brand earlier in this series we noted that fewer than 70 brands held it — in a category with thousands of sellers, that is a meaningful filter.

The GRAS Detail, Explained Properly

The company received self-affirmed Generally Recognized As Safe status in 2019 following an independent review by toxicologists. This deserves precision, because GRAS is a term that gets used loosely.

So it should not be read as regulatory blessing. But it is a real, documented process that costs money and involves outside experts who could have reached an unhelpful conclusion — and almost no CBD company bothers with it.

Combined with the annual certification audits and the absence of any FDA warning letter we could find, the picture is of a company engaging with regulatory expectations rather than working around them — which in this category is unusual enough to count.

What Independent Testing Shows — and Does Not

This is the gap in an otherwise strong picture, and we want to be straightforward about it.

Leafreport, which buys products and has them independently assayed, included CBDistillery in two market reports: an “A” grade within a 55-product pet products report, and a “B” within a 40-product topicals report.

That matters because the granular numbers have repeatedly changed our assessment. One brand looked strong until its flagship tincture came back 12% out; another produced the same rub at under 1% in one scent and 40% out in another. Grades hide that.

An A on pet products is a good result and we credit it. But a B on topicals is a middling one, and without the underlying figures we cannot say whether that reflects potency, transparency, pricing or something else. This is the one area where CBDistillery is less verifiable than the brand we rated highest.

One Search Result Worth Ignoring

A practical note for anyone researching this brand, and the third time we have hit this pattern.

It may be entirely accurate — but it is not independent signal, and it is designed to be read as though it were. We have now found the same pattern for three separate brands in this series, and the tell is consistent: a review-shaped headline on a wire service domain.

Side Effects and Who Should Not Use It

Speak to a clinician first if you are:

• Pregnant or breastfeeding.
• Taking prescription medication. CBD interacts with drugs metabolised via liver cytochrome P450 enzymes, including some blood thinners and anti-epileptics. This matters more at the higher strengths here than at a token dose.
• Living with liver disease or raised liver enzymes.
• Subject to drug testing — choose broad spectrum or isolate rather than full spectrum, and understand no seller can guarantee a result.

Commonly reported CBD side effects include drowsiness, diarrhoea, dry mouth, reduced appetite and changes in liver enzymes. The 167mg-per-ml concentration is worth respecting — it is easy to take considerably more than intended from a strong tincture, so measure rather than estimating. None of these products is FDA-approved to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.

Several better-priced competitors cannot offer the first part at all.

Buy the 5000mg if you take a meaningful daily amount — marginally better value per milligram and far less liquid to swallow. Measure it properly, because 167mg per ml is strong enough that eyeballing a dropper will get you somewhere unintended.

Look elsewhere if cost per milligram is your only criterion — brands at 2.1 to 3.2 cents exist. And look elsewhere if you want published independent potency numbers, which one brand in this series has and this one, as far as we could establish, does not.

And not for weight loss. There is no good evidence CBD produces it, cannabinoids are more often associated with increased appetite, and nothing here has been studied alongside GLP-1 medications.

Limitations of This Review

We have not bought, used or independently tested any CBDistillery product.

The most significant gap is testing detail. We could access Leafreport’s overall grades for this brand but not product-level potency variance or contaminant figures, so our assessment of accuracy is weaker here than for brands where we could read the numbers — and a grade can conceal exactly the variation that changed our view of other brands. That is a limitation of our access, not necessarily a criticism of the company.

Other gaps: pricing, guarantee terms and certification status are as reported by third-party coverage rather than read from the company’s own pages, and promotional pricing changes — verify before ordering, particularly the “no returns necessary” clause, which is the term doing most work in this review. We did not confirm the US Hemp Authority certification with that body directly, or examine the GRAS dossier. One brand still stands above this one for having actually published, verified potency results, and until similar data exists here that gap stands.

Buy it for the range and the guarantee — particularly if you need THC-free at a real strength, which is the thing it does better than anyone. Just do not buy it believing it is the cheapest, because it is not.
