Medterra sells CBD tinctures, capsules, gummies, topicals and pet products, mostly in isolate and THC-free broad spectrum form. On credentials it is the strongest brand we have reviewed: US Hemp Authority certified — a mark fewer than 70 brands hold — with an A+ accredited BBB rating, no FDA warning letter, and a money-back guarantee that says the same thing on every page and usually covers your return shipping. It is also, at about 6.5 cents per milligram, the most expensive tincture of the eleven.

The Credentials Are the Best We Have Found

Across ten previous hemp reviews, the recurring problem has been verification: brands claim third-party testing, few can be independently checked, and when someone checks the results are sometimes poor. Medterra addresses that at the level above testing.

The distinction worth drawing is between testing and auditing. CBDfx, which we rated highly, tests every batch at two accredited laboratories — excellent verification of the product. US Hemp Authority certification verifies the process, on a recurring schedule, by an outside party. They are complementary rather than competing, and Medterra is the only brand in our set to hold the second.

A Guarantee That Says the Same Thing Everywhere

This section exists because of a pattern. Five consecutive CBD brands we reviewed — R&R, Soul, CleanAF, Redeem and CBDfx — advertised a guarantee on their product pages that their own policy documents contradicted.

It feels faintly absurd to praise a company for saying the same number twice, but after ten reviews it is genuinely distinguishing. And covering return postage is the thing that makes a guarantee usable rather than decorative — on a $64.99 bottle, paying to ship it back is what stops people bothering.

And Then There Is the Price

So the question is direct: is annual third-party auditing worth paying double for?

We think it is a genuine judgement call rather than an obvious yes. If you take CBD occasionally and want maximum confidence in what you are buying, the premium is small in absolute terms and the certification is real. If you take it daily, the difference compounds fast — 1,000mg a month at 4.9¢ is about $49, against $21 at R&R’s rate, or over $330 a year in difference. And R&R is not uncertified either; it holds USDA Organic, which audits cultivation rather than process.

One practical note: avoid the small packages. At around 15¢ per milligram the 200mg size is poor value even by Medterra’s standards — buy the larger bottle and subscribe.

The Liposomal Claim, Assessed Fairly

Medterra sells liposomal capsules — a Good Morning energy formula and a Good Night melatonin one — and liposomal delivery is the kind of claim that deserves neither automatic acceptance nor automatic dismissal.

The problem it addresses is real. CBD taken by mouth has notoriously poor bioavailability — commonly cited around 5 to 13 percent — because it is highly fat-soluble, poorly absorbed in water, and heavily metabolised by the liver on first pass. Most of what you swallow never reaches circulation. That is not marketing; it is the central pharmacological weakness of oral CBD.

The evidence is promising but incomplete. Laboratory work has reported liposomal CBD achieving around eight-fold higher dissolution than crystalline CBD, and animal research suggests lipid encapsulation can substantially improve absorption by enhancing intestinal uptake. But human clinical evidence remains limited, and at least one study found pharmacokinetic differences that did not reach statistical significance, with the authors noting larger groups were needed.

The honest summary: a sound idea addressing a genuine problem, supported in the lab and in animals, not yet confirmed in humans. That is better than most delivery claims in this industry — and it still means you should not pay a large premium specifically for the word “liposomal” until the human data catches up.

The Same Company Also Owns Vena

A factual observation rather than a criticism, but a useful one: Vena CBD operates under Medterra CBD LLC, and we reviewed it separately. The two brands are run to noticeably different specifications.

We have not scored Medterra down for this — a company running two brands to different briefs is normal, and the complaints on the Vena file are few in number. But it is worth knowing that the certification and the clean complaint record attach to this brand rather than to the group, and that buying Vena is not buying the same standards.

The Range and the November Rules

Medterra covers tinctures, isolate gel capsules, gummies including melatonin sleep and caffeine-style alert formulas, topicals such as the pain cream and rapid recovery cooling cream, and pet tinctures and chews. The Enhanced Relief broad spectrum drops carry CBD alongside CBG, CBN and CBDV and terpenes while remaining THC-free — a genuinely useful combination if you want minor cannabinoids without the drug-test exposure. A CBG + CBD full spectrum tincture is also offered, which by definition carries trace THC.

On the federal changes arriving 12 November 2026 — a 0.4mg total THC per container cap on finished hemp products — Medterra is among the least exposed brands we have reviewed, because its isolate and broad spectrum lines contain no detectable THC. The full spectrum options are the part to think about, as with every brand.

If You Are Here Because of Weight Loss

Nothing in Medterra’s core range is an appetite stimulant — the THC-free lines avoid the problem we flag on intoxicating products, and there is no weight-loss claim attached to anything here, which is to the company’s credit given the FDA’s position on such claims.

Two things still apply on a GLP-1. Nausea and gastrointestinal upset are already the most common side effects, so introducing a new daily product makes attribution harder — start one thing at a time. And CBD inhibits the liver enzymes CYP3A4 and CYP2C19, which metabolise a wide range of prescription medicines, so check with a pharmacist before combining.

If sleep is what you are after — a legitimate goal, since short sleep raises ghrelin and lowers leptin — note that the melatonin in the Good Night capsules and Sleep Tight gummies has a considerably better evidence base for sleep onset than CBD or CBN do.

Across eleven brands, the field now splits cleanly. Medterra is the best-governed and the dearest. Canna River is the cheapest and the least verified. R&R and CBDfx sit in the middle and are, for most people, the better buy — R&R for organic certification at less than half the price, CBDfx for verified batch potency at a little over half.

Medterra earns its rating on governance rather than value. If you want the brand least likely to surprise you, this is it. If you want the best combination of assurance and price, it is not.

Medterra suits you if governance is what you are buying — you want an externally audited operation, an accredited complaint record, a guarantee you can actually rely on, and no THC anywhere near the product. For an occasional user, or someone buying CBD for the first time and wanting the lowest chance of an unpleasant surprise, this is the brand we would name. Buy the 1,000mg broad spectrum drops on subscription, not the small package.

Look elsewhere if you take CBD daily and price matters — the premium compounds to hundreds of dollars a year, and R&R offers USDA Organic certification at less than half the cost per milligram while CBDfx offers independently verified batch potency at a little over half. Both are credible brands; neither is a downgrade in any way that should worry a typical buyer.
